Creative Director

We are a growing digital publishing company founded by experienced Internet professionals and backed by world class investors. The project is still somewhat under wraps, please forgive any vagueness. We look forward to sharing more after hearing from you!

We are looking for an experienced, innovative Creative Director/Sr. Web Designer to lead all design for a new online content destination.

This individual will oversee website design, content presentation and overall brand identity. Our user experience will be driven by high resolution editorial photography covering global design, travel, culture and other visually-driven subjects.

The Creative Director must have proven ability to combine high impact aesthetics and intuitive user controls into elegant and highly functional web experiences.

The ideal candidate will have senior digital design experience from a major online network, digital publisher, innovative startup or interactive/ad agency and passion for the evolution of digital media and user experience design.

Detailed Qualifications:
  • 5+ years overall digital design experience, preferably in a leadership role (Creative Director, Lead Designer, Sr. Designer or similar)
  • This role is open equally to established veterans and talented young leaders
  • Direct experience designing content/programming websites a strong plus; extra consideration for work with photo-driven websites or applications
  • Able to balance high quality content presentation with highly intuitive, usable tools like search, recommendations and social connectivity
  • Well versed in the aesthetic impact of flash, the functional advantages of html, and confident designing across both in an integrated way.
  • Comfortable balancing editorial voice, user needs and business/market requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, sense of humor and humility
  • Experience with title/product launches (offline or online) a plus
  • Experience with team building a plus
